Music program

Festival of tolerance maintains the tradition of joining people through films, lectures, exhibitions as well as through good music. In addition to the rich film and side programme, this year's festival brings two unmissable concert performances.

HI5 and EtnoRom Band at the 13th Festival of Tolerance!

HI5

Venue: Student Center, 25 Savska Street
Time: Sunday, 7 April at 7.00 pm
Partner: Austrian Cultural Forum

With minimal jazz chamber music drums, guitar, vibes and bass, the Austrian band HI5 tears the limits of the genre every time they perform and a great deal of creativity and playfulness makes every HI5 performance an extraordinary experience. By using jazz sounds to create music that can take various free forms, HI5 produces free-spirited music material and con - structs a conceptual bridge between the jazz and chamber music at the same time.

The concert will be organised in collaboration with the Austrian Cultural Forum.

EtnoRom Band

Venue: The Hungarian Institute of Zagreb, 10 August Cesarec Street, 10000, Zagreb
Time: Friday, 12 April 2019 at 9.00 pm
Partner: The Hungarian Institute of Zagreb

EtnoRom Band was founded in 2005 by Jozsef Balog and Agnes Künstler, former solists of the globally famous Kalyi Jag Hungarian Gypsy Folk Band. After 20 years of a non-stop tour around the world, EtnoRom Band is now at the musical crossroads – their traditional Vlach Roma rhythms are now supplemented and refocused on gypsy jazz, swing and funk, creating an explosion of various rhythms and energies which with the passage of time turned into a new category of gypsy world music.

The band shows new and newer sides of the ’Roma life’ in the language of clear voice, sharp rhythm, and true soul. The song’s lyrics are in Hungarian and Romani, however the audiences from any nation enjoy the performance of EntoRom, the band concerts take the audiences into the world of true feelings with a constant emotional pulsation independently from the language spoken by the audiences.
