As part of the film programme Reality Bites, there is an intriguing documentary Hamada directed by Eloy Dominguez Serena who will attend the projection in Kinoteka cinema at 9 pm, after which he will be answering questions from the audience.
During several years, the director has been visiting a little-known Sahrawi people who had been deported by Western Morocco to Sahara forty years ago. Today, there is a minefield and the second largest military wall in the world separating them from their homeland, and their destiny is forgotten by the the whole world while they are still in a refugee camp in the middle of the desert.
Hamada uses humor while creating a strange portrait of a group of young friends living in a refugee camp remembering their homeland only from their parents' stories. They spent their days repairing cars, though they cannot travel with them anywhere, fighting for political change and dreaming about the future that is unlikely to be achieved.
