For the past 13 years, the non-profit organization Ars Septima has been organizing a screenwriting contest for young and unknown screenwriters, awarding the best screenplays with cash prizes. The central purpose of the contest is to provide screenwriters with the opportunity for their work to be recognized publicly and to encourage them to continue with their work.
For the 2020 contest, Ars Septima has announced numerous changes: all screenwriters can apply, regardless of their previous work, age or success; the contest will focus exclusively on stories and screenplays that encourage tolerance and understanding, deal with human rights, promote humane values, as well as values of the family and community. Also, the previous cash prize of 5,000 HRK has been increased fourfold, and the writer of the winning screenplay will now receive a whopping 20,000 HRK.
