On January 27., in French Pavilion in Zagreb, the place where people were taken to detention camps and death, on the day of the United Nations General Assembly 2005 proclaiming the official day appealing to all members of the United Nations to respect the memory of Holocaust victims, a solemnly open exhibition / multimedia installation One good day for American artist Andrewa M. Mezvinsky.
At the ceremony were the Minister of Culture Nina Obuljen Korzin, Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandić, SDP President Davor Bernardić, US Ambassador Julieta Valls Noyes, Austrian Ambassador Andreas Wiedenhoff, representatives of the ministries and numerous other senior guests and host of events, Branko Lustig, President of the Festival of Tolerance, double Oscar winner and survivor detainee of concentration camp Auschwitz, stressed that education is the most important to know young people for all the horrors of Holocaust.
"One good day in the camp was for me when I woke up and, clutching my arm or leg, realized that I was still alive. And today, when I took the wreath at the Moses monument at Mirogoj, I felt that there were all those with whom I shared the weight of the camp's life in Auschwitz and who are no longer there, "said Branko Lustig.
"I proposed to Minister of Culture to open the Mudeum of Tolerance in this beautiful area of the French Pavilion. I consider this to be his best purpose for the future" said Milan Bandic.
The young American artist, inspired by the autobiographical testimony of Italian writer Prima Levi, on the survival of Auschwitz, has created a multimedia installation that symbolizes freedom and will to live. The organizator of the exhibition is the Festival of Tolerance-JFF Zagreb in partnership between the Austrian Cultural Forum and the Student Center.
Citizens' Associations Programs The Festival of Contemporary Jewish Film, which includes Festival of Tolerance, has since its inception focused on preserving the memory of the most horrible and inexhaustible part of human history.
The exhibition is on a loan from the Jewish Museum in Vienna and will be open until February 6 , 2017.
