The film, which had its premiere at the beginning of the year at the Jewish Film Festival in Miami, presents another Holocaust witness, that, just like our Branko Lustig, devoted his life and work to recalling of those who were lost and the crown of his work is the Memorial Holocaust Miami Beach center, founded by David Schaecter.
Born in a small village in Czechoslovakia, David Schaecter was still just a little boy when the Nazi regime came to power in Germany. He is the only member of his family who has survived the Holocaust.
In this half-hour documentary, David takes us to journey – from his childhood in the village where his family cultivated grapes for wine production, through a joint struggle with his brother Jacob for survival in Auschwitz and, finally, David's dramatic escape during the Allied attack.
Projection will take place on April 10 at Europa Cinema starting at 5.15 P.M. and afterwards the director Ken Winikur will join us in a discussion with the audience. Join us!
