Angélica Dass is a Brazilian artist who lives and works in Madrid. She gained the international recognition through her key project Humanae, a collection of portrait photographs of people who reveal the true beauty of human colors, and the Croatian audience has the opportunity to for its premiere within the Festival of Tolerance the period from 05 to 20 April.
Humanae are actually "works in progress" by which the artist determines the chromatic range of different colors of human skin in a way that the pigment from the tip of the nose of the model is being transformed into the appropriate Pantone shade of the background of the portrait, thereby abolishing the false dominance of some races over others based on skin color or social conditions. Models are volunteers who know the project and have decided to participate in it. They are neither selected nor classified according to their nationality, gender, age, race, social affiliation or religion. The project is open in every sense and will include all of those willing to be a part of a global mosaic. The project would reach its end only if it included the entire world population.
Part of the portraits can be seen on Ban Jelačić Square, Preradović Square, Dežman Passage, Republic of Croatia Square and Main Station, and on the day of the opening, the author herself will walk around the mentioned city locations and present the works. But, almost equally valuable segment of this project is the story behind it. It is the exact story that celebrated the author when at the TED conference in Vancouver in 2016, her lecture reached world-wide recognition and popularity.
