The Film and Discussion programme is dedicated to the integration of refugees into society, and is organizes via the concept of the “Digital School of Cinema” (DSC). It is intended for students of higher elementary school grades and secondary school students, and will be held by trained coordinators and volunteers of the DSC.
The goal of the program is to use film as a medium and discussion to engage individuals, to highlight the importance of tolerance and to counteract the negative perception of refugees in society.
The programme is aimed at developing empathy, solidarity and critical thinking in children with the use of new technologies, such as the VR film screenings and creative computer activities such as quizzes and digital wall in order to inspire young users to engage. In the process of learning, they are also improving their skills and getting inspiration from the topics of the workshop. This year, the topics will focus on the status of refugees. The programme is organised with the support of the UNHCR Croatia.
During the 13th Festival of Tolerance, the projgramme would, as part of, involve up to 300 students, divided into groups of 30 students. After the Festival, the developed programme will be presented to schools throughout Croatia. The interactive wall would accompany the duration of the Film and Discussion program, and subsequently an application would be developed for the Educational Mornings on the Holocaust as well (since 2009, more than 25,000 students participated in the program).
