High above the town of Stollberg, close to Chemnitz, there is a castle named Hoheneck – a notorious women's jail in the times of DDR. Prisoners from the entire DDR served their sentences at the castle; criminals together with the so-called «political» or those who stood against the communist dictatorship. Most od these young women were sentenced by Soviet martial courts to serve long jail sentences and they hoped that «Gerans» would set them free. In the reality, it was quiet the contrary – the jail conditions got even worse and became inhuman. This is why the title of the film came up naturally: One Day Counts as One Year. Do not miss this heart-breaking story that will be screened at Kino Tuškanac on 9 April at 4.30 PM. After the screening, our guests will stay with the audience for a round of discussion and comments.
